Sheridan, WY- The Antelope Butte Foundation (ABF) is recruiting for AmeriCorps members to serve in the Antelope Butte Youth Recreation Corps (ABYRC) Program. The ABYRC Program is a youth recreation focused service program that will go from December 7th to August 15th. Twelve ABYRC AmeriCorps members will provide affordable and accessible youth recreation programming 20-30 hours per week in Big Horn and Sheridan County.

Mountain recreation, historically, hasn't been widely affordable or accessible. Barriers in Big Horn and Sheridan Counties, such as the lack of transportation or financial restraints, prevent many from taking advantage of the benefits of mountain recreation within their own community. “Our board members and staff couldn’t be more excited about having an AmeriCorps Program at Antelope Butte. This program will help us serve our community better than ever” says ABF Executive Director John Kirlin.

ABYRC AmeriCorps members will provide skiing and snowboarding programming in the winter, mountain bike programming in the spring, and outdoor programming (camping, backpacking, fishing, hiking, and biking) in the summer. Additionally, ABYRC AmeriCorps members will build trails with Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) during the Spring and Summer. “What could be more exciting? ABYRC member’s office is the mountains and you will help create amazing recreation trails” says SCLT Executive Director, Brad Bauer.

During the term of service, ABYRC AmeriCorps members will receive a living stipend and will be provided with housing and training opportunities. Following the completion of the program, ABYRC AmeriCorps members will receive a Segal Education Award which may be used to pay expenses at eligible post-secondary institutions or to repay qualified student loans.
