Shelly McAlpin, Executive Director, ServeWyoming
As our state’s Commission for Service and Volunteerism, ServeWyoming encourages you to serve or support a cause the week of 9/11 as a way of paying tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11, and to remember the remarkable way that so many rose up in unity and service following the attacks. As in years past, there will be opportunities across the nation for hundreds of thousands of volunteers to paint and refurbish homes, run food drives, spruce up schools, reclaim neighborhoods, and support and honor veterans, soldiers, military families, and first responders.
Here are some ways to get started:
• Pledge to be a volunteer during a time of disaster (at www.ServeWyoming.org, click on “Volunteer”)
• Share your story of service on the ServeWyoming Facebook wall!
• Choose a volunteer opportunity from www.ServeWyoming.org, click on “Volunteer” or “COVID-19” in honor and remembrance of the sacrifice of those who were lost nineteen years ago.
